Since 2004 I have picked one song a month to be my "theme song." In this case a theme song is a song that is rather current, usually coming out within a couple months before the actual month. The important thing about each song that I choose is that it can be connected to an event that occurred in that month; something memorable that occurred during that month. At first I used to pick theme songs as the beginning of the month, but after much deliberation and advice from friend and family, I made the decision to rather pick the song at the end of the month and use the song as a reflection of the month. Because it is January of 2007, I just finished my 3rd full cd. I imagine one day perhaps looking at a case of CD's and each one has a year on it. I'll put it in and listen to the songs, and I'll remember the times I had. I usually only allow myself to pick the same artist once a year, but there are always exceptions. Songs should be somewhat current, and they NEED to have an experience or moment connected to them. Here's the list, enjoy:
